Farms and apple orchards have filled the landscape in Littleton Massachusetts for centuries. Not until the 1970’s did the town begin its transformation and accompanying population growth when it welcomed hi-tech companies to its commercial sector. In more recent years, the town has also seen the coming of a vibrant retail core around the town center
While commercial growth has changed the town, nevertheless, farming is still important here. A recent initiative by local farmers to sell community shares in their crops has been well received. In exchange for an annual fee, patrons get 22 weeks of fresh produce. The response has been very positive.
